Regatta: Marsa win the 8th September Regatta
Marsa won the traditional 8th September Regatta which was held on Friday afternoon at the Grand Harbour on a calm sea despite continuous rainfall. Taking part were the usual six districts - Birgu, Bormla, l-Isla, Kalkara, Marsa and Marsamxett. This was the seventh win for Marsa in this regatta. The Red-Blues won three of the five races - Dghajjes tal-Midalji, Dghajjes tal-Pass bi tnejn (with two rowers) and Dghajjes tal-Pass b erbgha (with four rowers). They placed third in the Frejgatini race. L-Isla won the Frejgatini and the Kajjikki races. At the end of the five races, Marsa collected 68 points followed by Bormla with 52 points. Then Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport Jesmond Mugliett presented Marsa the Shield. Bormla won the Shield for the Under 23 category. They won four out of five races - Dghajjes tal-Midalji, Frejgatini, Kajjikki and Dghajjes tal-Pass b' erbgha. Marsamxett won the race of the Dghajjes tal-Pass bi tnejn. Bormla collected 74 points in all.
